About the Game

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are two Nintendo DS games, released outside of Japan in 2007. They are role-playing games in which a trainer's goal is to become the ultimate Pokemon Master, by defeating all 8 "Gym Leaders," as well as the "Elite 4" and current League Champion to become the new Champion. Another milestone of the game would be to witness or catch every Pokemon in the game to add their information in the Pokedex. This milestone has been completed by very few.

The game is set in the fictional island of Sinnoh, a land divided by the giant Mt. Coronet, which also leads to a blizzard/snow/desert mountain area. To fit the theme of the Pokemon series, once again you have to thwart an evil organization's plans to use Pokemon as weapons. In Diamond/Pearl, this organization is "Team Galactic" which is run by multiple admins unlike any other Team in the Pokemon games.

Amount of Pokemon

There are now 493 Pokemon in total, though most of them aren't accessible unless you have a copy of Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald and LeafGreen/FireRed. After every Pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex has been seen, you may transfer Pokemon from previous Game Boy Advance games through the Pal Park feature. Many have been newly added with very few that can only be obtained by trading through the new GTS trading feature.

Gameplay

The game-play is similar to the other games, on a slight top-down view, though these games are in 3D. Battles are turn-based. The top screen is used to view your character and the world around you, while the touch screen is a Pokemon Watch (known as the "Poketch" application) used to view the time, make notes, check breeding, and more! The different applications for the Poketch are added on as you unlock them throughout the game. These features are unlocked through a Multitude of tasks, be it showing someone a Pokemon of a specific nature, or just talking to someone.

Multiplayer

Along with local multiplayer, for the first time players can battle and trade over WiFi using Friend Codes. Here, you can partake in both Single and Double battles. Players that Exchange and add each others Friend Codes can meet in the Wifi-room to battle. This also features voice chat (which can be switched off). Another feature is the Global Trade Station, where you can put a Pokemon up for trade, decide on what you want specifically in return, then come back later to receive your new Pokemon. This doesn't require Friend Codes and each trade with some registered may be found on the big globe to the left side of the GTS, this feature allows you to see what trades you have made across the world with other people.

Compatibilities

Pokemon Diamond has full compatibility with Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Pearl. It's also semi-compatible with FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, in the sense that you're able to transfer your Pokemon from those games to Diamond via Pal Park. Pal Park is accessible once you have obtained the National Dex. This form of transfer is called "migration".

Breeding

Breeding is a very useful way for getting lower forms of your Pokemon or even for trading. This was originally released in Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Breeding has also been updated with the Poketch App #9. With this you can tell how high your Pokemon's level is, and if they have had an egg. In order to hatch an egg, you must take a certain number of steps, depending on the Pokemon in it. Too hatch a Pokemon faster, you need to have a Pokemon with the ability Flame Body or Magma Armor. These Pokemon are Magmar, Slugma, Magcargo, Magby, Camerupt and Magmortar. Though there are some Pokemon that cannot breed such as Legendary Pokemon, Baby Pokemon and Nidorina and Nidoqueen

Team Galactic

Team Galactic is much darker than all of the other groups, like Team Rocket. The goal for Team Galactic is to destroy the world, then recreate the world where the leader of Team Galactic is a Deity. To do this, in Pokemon Diamond, he uses the Deity of Time, Dialga.

Team Galactic Ranks

Leader: Cyrus

Admins/Commanders: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
