Poliwag (ニョロモ) is the 60th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Water-Type, and is known as the Tadpole Pokémon.

Poliwag can use one of two Abilities: Water Absorb, which restores up to 25% of its Maximum HP when it gets hit by a Water-Type move; or Damp, which prevents Selfdestruct and Explosion from working whilst in battle. A third Ability is available to Poliwag from the Dream World, the Swift Swim Ability. This Ability doubles its Speed while it's raining heavily.

Poliwag gain the opportunity to evolve into Poliwhirl starting at Level 25. From here, it can evolve into a Poliwrath by using a Water Stone, or from Generation II onward, into a Politoed if traded to another game while it is holding a King's Rock.

Poliwag is in the Water 1 Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Poliwag 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
