Poliwhirl can use one of two Abilities: Water Absorb, which restores up to a quarter of its Maximum HP if another Pokémon tries to hit it with a Water-Type move; or Damp, which stops Self-Destruct and Explosion from working while it remains in battle. Its Hidden Ability is Swift Swim, which doubles its Speed during periods of heavy rain.

Poliwhirl hasn't made any extreme changes after evolving. Though it has developed two arms, which has glove like hands, it has also lost its tail as well and the fact that its eyes are now at the top of its head. A minor change would be that its swirl is now going the opposite direction, and is a lot better at swimming and walking prior to evolving from Poliwag.
Poliwhirl doesn't have any distinguishable differences to differentiate between male and female.
