Porygon2 can use one of two Abilities: Trace, which copies the Ability of the opposing Pokémon, but the Ability that gets copied is selected at Random during a Double Battle or Triple Battle; or Download, which increases either its Attack or Special Attack depending on whether the opponent has a lower Defense or Special Defense. Its Hidden Ability is Analytic, which increases its attack power by 30% if it moves last on any given turn.
Porygon2 is in the Mineral Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Porygon 2 One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Porygon2 resides in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. It has a great defensive ability in Trace that can allow for Porygon2 to use its foe's ability, such as Gyarados's Intimidate, against it. Its bulk is augmented by Eviolite, which makes it a difficult Pokémon to take out with simply neutral hits. Access to a decent STAB attack in Tri Attack and coverage options like Ice Beam and Thunderbolt allow for Porygon2 to act as a good utility check to certain threats while not being too easy set-up bait. Its support moves like Thunder Wave, Toxic, and Recover are also useful in the sense that Porygon2 can cripple offensive or defensive threats while being able to stay relatively healthy throughout the game due to reliable recovery. Its most common set is a mixed defensive set that uses its defenses to counter many metagame defining threats. A more offensive tank set is also usable due to Porygon2's decent coverage and power while sustaining well rounded defenses. Porygon2's biggest flaw is that it is very reliant on Eviolite, which can be highly problematic with Knock Off being very prominent. Porygon2's defensive typing isn't terrible, but it doesn't give much in terms of resistances while having a common weakness to Fighting attacks. It also suffers from status ailments like poison and can be set-up fodder for bulkier set-up sweepers like Calm Mind Suicune, Curse Snorlax, and Calm Mind Reuniclus.
Porygon2 is also a niche defensive option in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling. Its bulk is considerable thanks to Eviolite and Trace is a phenomenal ability, but Porygon2 faces immense competition from other defensive behemoths like Chansey and Clefable. Porygon2 lacks Leftovers recovery, is very vulnerable to status and Knock Off, and can be passive at times. However, it acts as a good sponge against Pokémon like Landorus-T and has some great support moves like Thunder Wave.
Porygon2 is Genderless and does not have any Egg Moves as a result.

- Porygon2's signature moves, Conversion and Conversion 2, allow it to temporarily become any of the 17 elemental types. Because of this, it is one of seven Pokémon (the others being Arceus, Kecleon, Greninja, Silvally and the rest of the Porygon evolutionary line) capable of becoming a pure Flying type. An eighth Pokémon is always a pure-Flying Type: Tornadus.
