Rhydon (サイドン) is the 112th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Ground/Rock-Type and is known as the Drill Pokémon.
Rhydon can use one of two Abilities: Lightningrod, which draws Electric-Type moves to it, nullifying the move and its effects, and in Generation V the Special Attack Statistic increases by one stage; or Rock Head, which nullifies the recoil damage caused by moves such as Take Down. A third Ability is available to Rhydon from the Dream World, the Reckless Ability. This Ability increases the power of its recoil-causing moves by 20%, but the recoil also increases with the damage.
Rhyhorn can evolve into Rhydon at Level 42, and from Generation IV onward Rhydon can evolve into Rhyperior if it is Traded to another game while it is holding a Protector.
Rhydon is in the Egg Groups Monster and Field, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Rhydon One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Biology
[edit] Physiology
Rhydon takes on the appearance of a large grey bipedal rhinoceros with a relatively large tail. The horn on its head is shaped like a drill.
[edit] Gender Differences
The horn-like drill on a male Rhydon is longer than the horn-like drill of a female Rhydon.
[edit] Game Information
[edit] Original Games
Rhydon inhabit Cerulean Cave in Red, Blue and Yellow.
Rhydon wouldn't appear in the wild again until the Fourth Generation, as Rhydon can be found at Route 227, Route 228 and Stark Mountain in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. Rhydon can also appear at Victory Road in Platinum. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Rhydon can appear at the Safari Zone's Savannah area after placing 10 Peak Objects in the area.
[edit] Spin-Off Games
Rhydon is a Shadow Pokémon that can be obtained in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, obtainable by snagging it at Citadark Isle from Cipher Boss Greevil.
Rhydon can be found at Endless Level 15, Forever Level 64 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
The only way to obtain a Rhydon in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games is to evolve a Rhyhorn. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Rhydon can be found at Deep Dusk Forest 1F-12F and Sky Stairway 1F-49F. While Rhydon is exclusive to Blazing Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, the only way to obtain one is to evolve a Rhyhorn.
Rhydon can be found inside the Jungle Ruins in Pokémon Ranger. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, Rhydon appear at the Volcano Cave, Habura Desert and Altru Tower.
Rhydon can be found at Terrera and Cragspur in Pokémon Conquest.
[edit] Trading Card Game
Rhydon is listed as a Common Card in the Versus set; as an Uncommon Card in the Jungle, EX Hidden Legends, Diamond and Pearl and Supreme Victors sets; and as a Rare Card in the Gym Heroes, Skyridge, EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2) and EX Emerald sets.
[edit] Anime/Manga Information
[edit] Anime
Blaine would use a Rhydon in the episode Riddle Me This, which was Ash's first Gym Battle against Blaine. Rhydon would be awarded the victory over Charizard because it left the battlefield to take a nap on a nearby ledge, but Rhydon would be beaten by Pikachu. During the episode The Battle of the Badge, Giovanni would leave the Viridian Gym under the watchful eye of Jessie, James and Meowth, only to have Rhydon get bested by Ash and his Pokémon.
Noland would appear with a Rhydon in the episode Numero Uno Articuno, but Ash would select a different matchup for his Battle Factory challenge.
[edit] Movies
Other Trainers use Rhydon in the films Lucario and the Mystery of Mew and The Rise of Darkrai. Wild Rhydon appear in the films The Power of One and Celebi: Voice of the Forest.
[edit] Manga
Rhydon's Manga Information is unknown as of writing.
[edit] Pokémon Information
[edit] Competitive Battling
In the Fifth Generation Rhydon finds itself in the Rarely-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. Using Rhydon in this Tier is rather risky due to its low Speed, Special Attack and Special Defense combined with its typing, but the high risk has a high reward, with a high HP, Attack and Defense. It is certainly capable of taking physical attacks and dishing out some powerful physical attacks in its own right, but Rhydon often find itself in situations in which it either gets the KO or gets KO'd.
The only possible remedy for its low Speed would be Trick Room support.
