Root Fossil

Root Fossil
The Root Fossil is one of two fossils introduced in Generation III. It appears alongside the Claw Fossil. It is used to revive the Ancient Pokémon Lileep.

Generation III

In Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, the Root Fossil can only be found once and you have a choice between it or the Claw Fossil. The one that you didn't pick wil sink into the ground and you won't have a chance to obtain it.

However in Pokemon Emerald, you may choose one of the fossils in the Mirage Tower and the one you didn't pick can be found later on in the Desert Underpass.

In all 3 games, the Root Fossil can be revived at Devon Corp, located in Rustboro City.

Generation IV

In Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum the Root Fossil can be found Underground after the National Pokédex has been obtained, and can be revived at the Oreburgh Museum in Oreburgh City.

The Root Fossil is exclusive to Soul Silver, obtainable at The Cliff Cave, and revivable at the Pewter Museum in Pewter City.

Generation V

Fossils can be obtained at Twist Mountain after the National Pokédex has been obtained. A fossil can be picked up from the same individual everyday; the Root Fossil is one of the randomly obtainable fossils.
