Sandslash (Pokédex. It is a Ground-Type, and is known as the Mouse Pokémon.) is the 28th Pokémon in the
Sandslash uses the Sand Veil Ability, an Ability that increases its Evasion by one stage during a Sandstorm. A second Ability is available to Sandslash from the Dream World, the Sand Rush Ability. This Ability doubles its Speed during a Sandstorm.
Sandshrew can evolve into Sandslash at Level 22.
Sandslash is in the Field Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Sandslash One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Sandslash is a Pokémon that is based off a hedgehog with sharp claws. It has sharp brown spikes on its back and it can curl into a ball for protection and to attack. Sandslash has four limbs and usually stands on its hind legs. Its two feet have sharp claws and its hands have large sharp claws. It has a thin snout and large eyes. Its underbelly is white and the rest of its fur is a yellowish colour.
Sandslash doesn't have any differences to differentiate between male and female.
Sandslash can be found at Route 23 and Victory Road in Leaf Green. With Leaf Green inserted into the Game Boy Advance Slot of a Nintendo DS or DS Lite, Sandslash can be found at Route 228. Sandslash reprises its original appearance in Heart Gold, appearing at Routes 26 & 27 and Mt. Moon. Sandslash also makes an appearance at the Safari Zone's Desert Area in Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
A Sandslash can be obtained in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness by capturing a Wild Sandshrew and evolving it.
Sandslash can be found at Endless Levels 3 & 20, Forever Level 52 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
The only way to obtain a Sandslash in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games is to evolve a Sandshrew. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Sandslash can be found at Quicksand Cave B1-B10 & DPB1-B10 and Shimmer Desert 1F-9F, the latter of which is known as Shimmering Desert in Explorers of Sky but the floor range is the same. Sandslash is exclusive to Stormy Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the Path to Treasure Mountain B6 and Legendary Wetland on the following floors: 26 & 27, 31-33, 38 & 41-45.
Sandslash can be found in Hippowdon Temple in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Sandslash can be found in the Daybreak Ruins at the Monument and in the Submarine before it crashes in the Present, and in the Forest Temple mission "Where Are You, Sunkern?" by completing the Mission with an S Rank.
Sandslash can be found at Desolated Ruins Desert 3-1 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Sandslash is listed in 11 sets. It is listed as a Common Card in the Skyridge and Boundaries Crossed sets; as an Uncommon Card in the Fossil, Gym Challenge and Mysterious Treasures sets; and as a Rare Card in the Gym Heroes, EX Sandstorm, EX Team Rocket Returns, EX Delta Species (Delta Species card), Supreme Victors and Heart Gold/Soul Silver sets.
A trainer named Corey would have his Sandslash cloned by Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back, which would make a subsequent appearance in Mewtwo Returns. Wild Sandslash make appearances in The Power of One, Celebi: Voice of the Forest, Giratina and the Sky Warrior and Arceus and the Jewel of Life, along with the Pikachu Short Pikachu's Rescue Adventure.
Team Magma Grunts would use a Sandslash during their attack on Rusturf Tunnel in Chapter 219. Wild Sandslash make appearances in Chapters 43 & 145.
Sandslash finds itself in the Rarely-Utilized and Over-Utilized Tiers of Competitive Battling. Even though often ridiculed when brought up competitively, Sandslash can set up Stealth Rock and get rid of the opponents' entry hazards with Rapid Spin. Sandslash can become an offensive threat with its Hidden Ability Sand Rush, which is great when paired with Hippowdon or Tyranitar in the Over-Utilized environment--due to Excadrill getting banished to the Uber Tier competition for a sweeper on a Sand team won't be a problem.
What is a problem for Sandslash, however, is lackluster Special Defense, which opponents can take advantage of.
