Scrafty finds itself in the Rarelyused (RU) tier of competitive battling. With access to a great boosting move in Dragon Dance, Scrafty can act as a threatening sweeper due to its good bulk and great STAB combination. Its typing allows for it to check threats like Drapion, Meloetta, Sneasel, and Houndoom. It also has some very good STAB attacks in High Jump Kick and Knock Off, both of which can be very powerful after a boost. Its abilities Intimidate and Shed Skin have great utility, with the former weakening an opposing physical attacker and allowing for Scrafty to have a better chance of setting up and the latter giving Scrafty the ability to recover from a debilitating status like burn or paralysis while allowing for the possibility to use Rest and wake up on the same turn. However, Scrafty struggles against Fairy and Fighting-types, and many Psychic-types that it wants to set up on run Fighting or Fairy coverage in moves like Focus Blast and Dazzling Gleam. Scrafty also has a very lackluster Speed stat and average power for a sweeper, meaning that it can be checked by many Choice Scarf users and that it can be easily checked by bulkier Pokémon even after a Dragon Dance boost.
