Sealeo only had one Ability when it was introduced in Generation III, the Thick Fat Ability. This Ability cuts the amount of damage that it takes from Fire and Ice Type moves by 50%. A second Ability would become available to Sealeo in Generation IV, the Ice Body Ability. This Ability restores its HP while it is hailing. A third Ability is available to Sealeo from the Dream World, the Oblivious Ability. This Ability prevents it from becoming infatuated as a result from the move Attract or the Cute Charm Ability.
Sealeo takes on the appearance of a light blue seal with a light colored belly and mustache.
Sealeo doesn't have any visible differences to differentiate between male and female.
Sealeo appears at Route 226 and Route 230 while using Surf in Pearl. Sealeo also appears at Route 230 in Platinum, albeit far more frequently than in Pearl. Sealeo appears at the Safari Zone's Mountain area in Heart Gold and Soul Silver after 7 Peak Objects and 17 Water Objects have been placed, and 80 Days have passed.
Sealeo appears at Endless Level 12 & 29, Forever Level 61 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
Sealeo appears at Stormy Sea 34F-39F, Silver Trench 26F-33F and Far-Off Sea 35F-44F in the first round of Mystery Dungeon games. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness & Explorers of Sky, Sealeo appears at Craggy Coast B6-B9. Sealeo is exclusive to Light Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Wave Seas 1F-8F.
Sealeo appears at The Crysta Lake and Hia Valley in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, and the cave's Main Room on Mt. Sorbet in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs in the Present. In the Past, Sealeo can be obtained by defeating it and obtaining its Slate in the Ice Temple Missions "Time! Time! Time!" and "Save the Frightened Vulpix."
Sealeo can be found at World Axle Glacier B2 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Sealeo makes an appearance at Nixtorm in Pokémon Conquest.
Trading Card Game
Sealeo appears in a total of seven sets. Its lone appearance as a Common Card is in the Rising Rivals set. The majority of Sealeo's appearances are as Uncommon Cards, which are in the EX Team Magma VS Team Aqua, EX Hidden Legends, EX Legend Maker, EX Power Keepers, Mysterious Treasures and Dragons Exalted sets. Sealeo also appears as a Rare Card in the EX Team Magma VS Team Aqua set.
Captain Stern used a Sealeo to help ward off the attack of Team Magma in the episode The Spheal of Approval. Juan also used a Sealeo in a Gym Battle against Ash, which was defeated by Ash's Corphish in the double-battle portion of the match.
Wallace uses a Sealeo in Chapters 223, 224 and 232. His Sealeo is nicknamed "Richard."
Sealeo is listed in the NFE, or Not Fully Evolved Tier of Competitive Battling as it a Pokémon that hasn't reached its final stage of evolution.
