Seel (パウワウ) is the 86th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Water-Type, and is known as the Sea Lion Pokémon.

Seel can use one of two Abilities; Thick Fat, which reduces damage from Ice and Fire type moves used on it by 50%, or Hydration, which restores a Status condition inflicted on it when it is raining. Its Hidden Ability is Ice Body, which restores its HP during a hailstorm.

Seel can evolve into Dewgong when it reaches Level 34.

Seel is in the Water 1 and Field Egg Groups, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 steps to hatch. It takes Seel 1,000,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Physiology

Seel takes on the appearance of a seal. Its coloration is mostly white with some cream-like color on its muzzle. Around the top of its head is a horn. Seel has two white tusks and it has a pink tongue that usually pokes out. Seel have two flippers and a somewhat long tail that represents a water spout.

Game Information

Original Games

Seel can be caught in the wild at the Seafoam Islands in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. In Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, it can be found in the Whirl Islands.

In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, Seel can be caught at the Seafoam Islands and Icefall Cave.

Seel can be found at Route 226 and Route 230 in Pokémon Diamond. In Pokémon Platinum, it can only be obtained by breeding a Dewgong. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, it can be caught in the wild at Route 47, the Whirl Islands and the Seafoam Islands.

In Pokémon Black, White, Black 2 and White 2, Seel appears in the Giant Chasm by Surfing. It can also be caught in the Seaside Cave in Black 2 and White 2.

Breeding a Dewgong is the only way to obtain Seel in Pokémon X and Y. It can be caught at Route 125 in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire by using the DexNav feature of the PokéNav Plus, after the defeat or capture of Groudon or Kyogre.
