Skarmory can use one of two Abilities; Keen Eye, which prevents its Accuracy from being lowered and decreases the chance of encountering low-leveled Wild Pokémon, or Sturdy, which prevents OHKO moves from affecting it, and lets the Pokémon survive any hit with 1 HP if it has full health. Its Hidden Ability is Weak Armor, which will lower its Defense by one level when it gets hit by an attack, but in exchange its Speed increases by two levels.
Skarmory does not evolve and doesn't have a pre-evolved form.
Skarmory is in the Flying Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. It needs 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Skarmory is a grayish bird Pokémon with a body that is mostly comprised of hardened metal. The only part of its body that isn't made of metal is also the only part of its body that isn't gray: the underside of its wings, which are red.
Skarmory doesn't have any differences to distinguish between male and female.
In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Skarmory can be caught at Route 227 and Stark Mountain. In Pokémon SoulSilver, it once again appears at Route 45. Skarmory appears at Reversal Mountain in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2.
Trading Card Game
Skarmory finds itself in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling. Skarmory is a great Defog user and physical wall that provides immense utility for teams. With a great typing and a high 140 base Defense, it is among the most reliable Defog users thanks to its ability to switch into numerous physical threats and remove entry hazards in the process. With great support moves in Whirlwind, Taunt, and Spikes, Skarmory performs the role of defensive wall very well by preventing set-up sweepers to walk all over it and laying down entry hazards. These traits allow it to counter Pokémon like Mega Lopunny, Mega Pinsir, and Excadrill. If one chooses to opt for a specially defensive variant, Skarmory is capable of walling threats like Mega Diancie and Latias. However, Skarmory is far from flawless, as if it does not heavily invest in Special Defense, it will succumb to a significant number of special attackers. It can also suffer a bit from four-moveslot syndrome, as it has numerous utility options that cannot fit onto one moveset.
Skarmory is also a viable option in the Uber tier of competitive battling. With access to valuable utility moves like Spikes and reliable recovery in Roost, Skarmory is a sturdy wall that can check Extreme Killer Arceus, Mega Salamence, Primal Groudon lacking Fire attacks, and Ground Arceus. If one opts for a more specially defensive set, Skarmory can check Latios, Latias, and support Arceus forms while setting up layers of Spikes. In spite of these great qualities, Skarmory does suffer a bit in being easy Taunt bait as it usually does not run an attacking move and being frail on the specially defensive side even with investment. It is also annoyed by the presence of Magic Bounce Pokémon like Mega Sableye and Mega Diancie, both of which can shut down Skarmory. For Skarmory lacking Shed Shell, Mega Gengar can trap Skarmory and use Taunt against it, leaving it open for sweepers like Extreme Killer Arceus to take advantage.
