Slowbro () is the 80th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Water/Psychic-Type, and is known as the Hermit Crab Pokémon.
Slowbro can use one of two Abilities: Oblivious, which gives it an immunity to both Attract and Taunt; or Own Tempo, which prevents it from becoming Confused. Slowbro's Hidden Ability is Regenerator, which restores up to one-third of its Maximum HP when it switches out of battle.
Slowbro, despite making huge changes through evolution, it has some obvious features that shows us that it was previously a Slowpoke. It has gotten a lot bigger, it's head still looking like a Slowpoke's. It's body is still mostly pink but not only this time it has a cream-coloured muzzle, but it's belly (with some thin black stripes) is also cream-coloured. Both of it's arms have three, white claws. Slowbro also has claws on its feet, but there are only two on each foot and they are much larger than the others. Over it's tail, which is probably like Slowpoke's, is a large grey shell that appears to be 'biting' Slowbro's unseen tail.
Slowbro has no gender differences.
Slowbro is exclusive to Leaf Green in the Third Generation, appearing at Seafoam Islands, Cape Brink, Berry Forest, Cerulean Cave and Cinnabar Island.
Slowbro cannot be found in Diamond, Pearl or Platinum, but can be obtained by transfer or trade in Diamond, and evolving a Slowpoke in Pearl and Platinum. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Slowbro can be found at Slowpoke Well, Seafoam Islands, Tohjo Falls and the Safari Zone's Rocky Beach. In addition to being one of the default Pokémon, Slowbro can also appear in the Peak area after placing 5 Water Objects in that area, along with 3 Peak Objects in the Rocky Beach area, which will be of higher level than the default.
Slowbro can be found at Abundant Shrine while Surfing in Black and White. Evolving a Slowpoke is the only means to obtain a Slowbro in Black 2 and White 2, and is also the only means of obtaining a Slowbro in all four Generation VI titles.
Slowbro make appearances at Secret Storage 18 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
The only way to obtain a Slowbro in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games is to evolve a Slowpoke. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Slowbro can be found throughout Surrounded Sea, Miracle Sea, and Marine Resort. Slowbro appears in all three versions of Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at each game's respective Secret-themed area 11F-20F.
Slowbro has yet to make an appearance in the Pokémon Ranger series as of writing.
Slowbro can be found at Shimmering Lake Lake 2-4 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Slowbro is listed in 13 different sets. It is listed as a Common Card in the Versus set; as an Uncommon Card in the Fossil, Gym Heroes, Neo Destiny, Great Encounters, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Undaunted and Dark Explorers sets; and as a Rare Card in the Team Rocket (2), Aquapolis, EX FireRed and LeafGreen and EX Unseen Forces sets.
A Wild Slowpoke that appeared early in The Island of Giant Pokémon would evolve into a Slowbro by the episode's end. The Evolution Solution centered around a Wild Slowpoke's evolution into a Slowbro, the evolution taking place when Jessie's Shellder bit the tail of said Slowpoke.
Prima would use a Slowbro in The Mandarin Island Miss Match. Solidad would use her own Slowbro during the Kanto Grand Festival, appearing in May, We Harley Drew'd Ya!, Thinning the Hoard and Channeling the Battle Zone.
Another trainer uses a Slowbro in Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction. Wild Slowbro make an appearance in the Pikachu Short "Pikachu's Vacation."
Lorelei has a number of her own Slowbro that assist her in keeping watch of Cerise Island, which appear in Chapters 69, 83 & 84. Slowbro's most recent appearance was with a random trainer in Chapter 179.
Slowbro finds itself in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling in Generation VI. With solid 95/110/80 defenses, Slowbro is a sturdy defensive prowess in the Overused tier capable of walling numerous threats such as Landorus-T, Mega Charizard X, Talonflame, and Mega Lopunny. Having reliable recovery in Slack Off and a great ability in Regenerator keeps Slowbro healthy and allows it to act as a pivot. With Thunder Wave, Slowbro can shut down many physical sweepers to prevent itself from being easy set-up bait. It can run Calm Mind as well to patch up its subpar special bulk and act as a win condition when going up against Pokémon like Keldeo. However, Slowbro does suffer from being weak to the common Knock Off and Pursuit, and it can usually not take special attacks as well without Calm Mind due to having to invest heavily in physical defense to counter certain opposing threats. Slowbro is also very susceptible to Taunt and status moves like Toxic, as they heavily pressure it and can prevent it from healing back up.
