Spinda can have one of two Abilities: Own Tempo, an Ability that makes it immune to becoming Confused from getting hit with a Confuse Ray or by using Thrash; or Tangled Feet, which increases its Evasion by one level should it become Confused. A third Ability is available to Spinda from the Dream World, the Contrary Ability. This Ability has an unusual effect because stat-altering moves used on a Pokémon with this Ability do the polar opposite of its intended effect; moves that would raise stats instead lower those stats whereas a move that would reduce stats raise those stats instead.
Spinda does not evolve and does not have a pre-evolved form.
Spinda takes on the appearance of a light-colored panda bear with spiral-like patterns on its eyes and ears. Generation V is the first generation to not show different spotted Spindas.
Spinda doesn't have any visible differences to differentiate between male and female.

Spinda finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling due to terrible Statistics overall. Its only chance at causing a Sweep are exclusive to what Spinda from the Dream World can use: Superpower and Contrary. As the boosts from Superpower increase, so does the difficulty in defeating it, which shouldn't be too much of a problem.
