Swalot can have one of two Abilities: Liquid Ooze, an Ability that affects HP-draining attacks used against it, causing the user of such moves as Drain Punch or Dream Eater to lose HP instead of recovering HP because the opponent absorbs the Liquid Ooze instead; or Sticky Hold, which prevents its Held Item from being stolen.
Gulpin receive the opportunity to evolve into Swalot starting at Level 26.
Swalot is in the Amorphous Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Swalot 1,600,000 Experience Points at the most to reach Level 100.
Swalot resembles an amorphous blob similar to Grimer, albeit with shorter arms and a cleaner appearance--no sludge appears on its body. Instead, a diamond-like pattern runs along its midsection.
 Gender Differences
The whiskers on a Male Swalot is longer than the short, mustache-like whiskers on a Female Swalot.

 Spin-off Games
Swalot can also be obtained by evolving Gulpin in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, but the Gulpin must be Purified before it can evolve, let alone gain experience points.
Swalot appears at Secret Storage 16 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
Swalot can only be obtained by evolving a Gulpin in the first round of Mystery Dungeon games. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Swalot appears at Marine Resort B1-B19 and The Nightmare B1-B17 at Random; like its pre-evolved form Gulpin, Swalot Cannot Be Recruited in The Nightmare. Swalot is exclusive to Blazing Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the first 19 Floors of Mystery Plains.
Swalot appears at Fiore Temple in the first Pokémon Ranger game. This is the lone appearance for Swalot in the series, as it did not appear in either sequel.
Swalot can be found at Misty Edgewater Cave 2-2 in Pokémon Rumble Blast after completing the game.
 Trading Card Game
Swalot appears in a total of five sets. It is listed as an Uncommon Card in the EX Hidden Legends, EX Emerald and Legends Awakened sets. Swalot is listed as a Rare Card in the EX Crystal Guardians and Arceus sets.
 Anime/Manga Information
Paul's Brother Reggie also used a Swalot in a few epsiodes as well.

Swalot's Manga info is unknown at this time.
 Pokémon Information
 Competitive Battling
Swalot finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. It has the HP and Defenses to act as a mixed wall. It can also be sent in to absorb Toxic Spikes, along with being an annoying presence with moves that could force substitutions, including Yawn.
Swalot doesn't have a very good Statistic spread offensively. Switching in a strong Psychic-Type is a great way of shutting down Swalot, as these Pokémon can bring it down quickly.
