Torkoal ('コータス) is the 105th Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex. It is a Fire-Type, and it is known as the Coal Pokémon.
Torkoal has the White Smoke Ability. This Ability prevents opposing Pokémon from lowering its Statistics with Attacks or Abilities. Torkoal can still reduce its own Statistics as a result of its own moves, such as Curse, Overheat, or Shell Smash. A second Ability is available to Torkoal from the Dream World, the Shell Armor Ability. This Ability prevents the opponents' attacks from landing a Critical Hit, even if the move is always supposed to do so.
Torkoal does not evolve and does not have a pre-evolved form.
Torkoal is in the Field Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Torkoal One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Anime/Manga Information
[edit] Anime
Ash would capture a Torkoal in the episode All Torkoal, No Play!, which would appear in many battles for Ash during his travels. Ash would also battle a different Torkal in his gym battle against Flannery. Her Torkoal defeated Ash's Pikachu and Treecko before losing to Corphish despite Corphish being put asleep by a Yawn attack from her Slugma.

[edit] Manga
Torkoal's Manga info is unknown at this time.
[edit] Pokémon Information
[edit] Competitive Battling
Torkoal finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. It isn't the typical Fire-Type Pokémon, as it has a very high Defense Statistic. As a result, it is capable of acting as a Support Pokémon, including Rapid Spin, a move that isn't common in this particular Tier. It also can use a number of offensive moves as well.
Torkoal's biggest problem is its very low Speed and relatively low Special Defense, something that Special Attackers can take advantage of.
