Turtwig (ナエトル) is the first Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Grass Type, and it is known as the Tiny Leaf Pokémon.
Turtwig has the Overgrow Ability. This Ability increases the power of all its Grass Type attacks by 50% when its HP falls below one-third of its maximum. A second Ability is available to Turtwig that come from the Dream World, the Shell Armor Ability. This Ability protects it from taking a Critical Hit.
Turtwig gains the opportunity to evolve into a Grotle starting at Level 18, and can evolve a second time into Torterra starting at Level 32.
Turtwig is in the Egg Groups Monster and Grass, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Turtwig 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Turtwig is one of the Starter Pokémon in the Generation IV games Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, received from Professor Rowan at Lake Verity.

Turtwig appears at Mystifying Forest B1-B13 and Mystery Jungle B1-B29 in Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness. The floor ranges are the same in Explorers of Sky, but the two respective dungeons are called Mystic Forest and Mystery Jungle.
In Mystery Dungeon 3, Turtwig appears at Weird Mountain, Weird Rockland and Weird Forest 3F-7F and Final Mountain, Final Island and Final Cave 11F-15F.
Turtwig appears at Vien Beachside during a Quest in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Turtwig appears at Hinder Cape, but is Hidden in the Present, and in the Forest Temple mission Pidgeotto and the Switch Path in the Past by getting an A Rank in the Mission.
Turtwig appears at Sunny Seashore Desert 4-3 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Turtwig appears in a total of seven sets, Pokémon Organized Play Series 6, 8, and 9 as a Rare Card in each POP set, and a Diamond and Pearl Promo. It is listed as a Common Card in the Diamond and Pearl, Majestic Dawn (2), Platinum, Rising Rivals (Gym Leader Card), Supreme Victors and Unleashed sets.

Ash would capture a Turtwig in the epsiode Gettin' Twiggy With It!, and would evolve into a Grotle in the episode Aiding the Enemy.
Paul picked Turtwig as his Starter and was shown with it in a flashback during the episode A Pyramiding Rage!.
Gardenia also used a Turtwig in a Turtwig vs Turtwig match in the episode The Grass Type Is Always Greener. Gardenia's Turtwig won this battle. In the Gym Battle against Ash, Gardenia's Turtwig would defeat Ash's Staravia, but would lose to Ash's Turtwig, whom would be defeated quickly by her Roserade.
