Sceptile is a Grass-type Pokemon introduced in Ruby and Sapphire. It is in the BL category of the tier list. It is in this tier because of it's amazing speed and sizable special attack to go along with a decent movepool, but however lacks the offensive power or defensive capabilities to move up to OU. It can effectively use Swords Dance to utilize it's decent attack stat and pull off a surprise sweep with Leaf Blade, Dragon Claw and either Brick Break, ThunderPunch, or Earthquake. Also it is the fastest Pokemon that learns Leech Seed, which gives it the advantage of being able to use the strategy commonly known as Sub-seeding. This strategy consists of using Leech Seed and then putting up a Substitute while the opponent is left with nothing to do but switch or attack. If they attack more subs can be put up as their health is lowered by leech seed to the point where HP Fire or Leaf Storm will finish them off. It also has the option of attacking with the item Choice Specs. With this it can utilize it's base 105 sp. atk and base 120 spd to hit hard and fast with Leaf Storm or Grass Knot, Dragon Pulse, Focus Blast, and HP Fire/HP Ice, and then switch out of oncoming danger.
