Venonat (コンパン) is the 48th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Bug/Poison-Type, and is known as the Insect Pokémon.

Venonat can use one of two Abilities: Compound Eyes, which increases the Accuracy of all its moves by 30%, or Tinted Lens, which doubles the power of its moves that aren't very effective against its target. Its Hidden Ability is Run Away, which allows it to run away from encounters with Wild Pokémon except when blocking moves or Abilities are in effect.

Venonat gain the opportunity to evolve into Venomoth starting at Level 31.

Venonat is in the Bug Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Venonat One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Physiology

Venonat is a small and round Pokémon that is completely covered in purple fur. It has two large Compound eyes which are pink and its mouth has pincers. Venonat has two white antennae. It has stubby feet and tiny paws both a cream color.

Game Information

Original Games

Venonat can be found at Routes 12-15 and the Safari Zone in Red and Blue. In Yellow Venonat makes appearances on Routes 14, 15, 24 and 25.

Venonat can be found on Routes 24, 25, 43 and the Bug Catching Competition in Gold and Silver. In Crystal, in addition to those routes, Venonat can also be found on Routes 9, 10, 14, 15, [Ilex Forest]], National Park and using Headbutt on small trees in forest areas.

Venonat can be found at Routes 12-15, the Safari Zone, Berry Forest and Bond Bridge in Fire Red and Leaf Green.

Venonat can be found on Route 229 in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum by using PokéRadar. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Venonat can be found on Routes 24, 25 and 43, along with the Bug Catching Contest and using Headbutt on trees at Lake of Rage.

The only way to obtain a Venonat in Black and White is to Breed a Venomoth or find one at Dream Park. While Venonat doesn't appear in the Black 2 or White 2 version of Dream Park, Venonat can be found inside a Hidden Grotto on Route 3.

In Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the only way to obtain Venonat is to breed a Venomoth.

Spin-Off Games

Venonat makes appearances at Huge Storage 4, Endless Level 57, Forever Level 1 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

Venonat can be found at Uproar Forest 1F-4F, Western Cave 1F-3F and Murky Cave 1F-5F in the first set of Mystery Jungle games. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Venonat can be found at Mystery Jungle B1-B29, Mystifying Forest B1-B13 and Midnight Forest B1-B21, the last two are respectively known as Mystic Forest and Dark Night Forest in Explorers of Sky. Venonat is exclusive to Blazing Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Sunset Rockland B1-B10.

Venonat can be found within Olive Jungle in Pokémon Ranger, its lone appearance in the Ranger series as of writing.

Venonat can be found at Shimmering Lake Treetops 2-4 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Venonat is listed in seven sets. It is listed as a COmmon Card in the Jungle, Gym Heroes, Neo Destiny, Skyridge, EX FireRed and LeafGreen, Secret Wonders and Triumphant sets.

Anime/Manga Information

Anime

Aya would battle Ash's Bulbasaur in The Ninja Poke-Showdown, only for Ash to find a way to win. Koga would appear later with a Venonat of its own, only for said Venonat to quickly evolve into Venomoth, setting the stage for Ash's Gym Battle.

Aya and Venonat would make a subsequent appearance in Ariados Amigos.

Tracey would use a Venonat to track down a truck that was holding a wild Lapras inside in The Lost Lapras, and since then Venonat would make subsequent appearances, most recently in Bulbasaur...The Ambassador!.

Movies

Tracey's Venonat makes an appearance in The Power of One and the Pikachu Short "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure," while another trainer uses a Venonat in Mewtwo Strikes Back. Wild Venonat make an appearance in Celebi: Voice of the Forest and the Pikachu Short "Pikachu's Vacation."

Manga

Wild Venonat make an appearance on Route 11 in Chapter 12, while other random trainers use a Venonat in Chapters 179, 421 and 442.
