Vileplume (ラフレシア) is the 45th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Grass/Poison-Type, and is known as the Flower Pokémon.

Oddish can evolve into Gloom at Level 21, then can evolve into a Vileplume when a Leaf Stone is used on it, or a Bellossom when using a Sun Stone on Gloom.

Vileplume is in the Grass Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Vileplume 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Jessiebelle would use a Vileplume in an attempt to try and bring James home to marry her in Holy Matrimony!, only to be thwarted by his Growlithe.

Ash and Tracey would fall into the flower of a Wild Vileplume in The Stun Spore Detour, which caused the two of them to get blasted with a Stun Spore cloud. Jessie also did the same thing. Whichever Way the Wind Blows! featured a group of Vileplume feuding with a group of Bellossom.

A couple different trainers appear with a Vileplume in Mewtwo Strikes Back, one of which would get cloned by Mewtwo, along with a different trainer using a Vileplume in Arceus and the Jewel of Life. Wild Vileplume make appearances in [{The Power of One]] and the Pikachu Shorts "Pikachu's Vacation," "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure" and "Pikachu's Summer Festival".

Manga

Erika uses a Vileplume in Chapters 19, 20, 46 and 65. Chapter 20 was a Gym Challenge against Red, a battle that Red's Pokémon would win.

Team Rocket Four Generals member Ariana would use her own Vileplume in Chapter 456.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Vileplume is in the Neverused (NU) tier of competitive battling. It makes for a great defensive pivot due to its typing and solid defenses, and it has access to solid recovery options in STAB Giga Drain and Moonlight so that it can stay healthy and handle certain offensive threats, such as Samurott, Hariyama, Shiftry, and Barbaracle. Its ability Effect Spore can come in handy, punishing contact move users and enhancing its matchup against physical attackers. Vileplume's Special Attack is relatively high to the point where it can have decent offensive prowess even when uninvested. Unfortunately, Vileplume has some common weaknesses to Fire, Ice, and Psychic, and those weaknesses coupled with its low Speed stat can sometimes hinder its ability to act as a defensive pivot.
