Wild Pokémon

Wild Pokémon are Pokémon that appear in different specific areas of the Pokémon games. Pokémon will appear whilst:
Walking in tall grass Surfing (mostly Water type Pokémon appear) Fishing (only Water type Pokémon appear) Using Rock Smash, making, for example, a Geodude appear Interaction (for example, 'talking' to a Pokémom sprite that is on the map, such as Articuno or Rayquaza) And a few other ways using Pokémon moves.

Wild Pokémon can be repelled using the item Repel, or the more efficient Max Repel. Tall grass is the most common place Pokémon appear. Appearance of wild Pokémon can be affected through the use of a cheating device, such as the Action Replay or Gameshark, which will affect the pseudorandom algorithm, from which wild Pokémon appear, to gain any Pokémon the player wishes. There are also wild glitch Pokémon, such as Missingno, 3TrainerPoké and other glitch Pokémon. Wild Pokémon appearances can also be manipulated in some games by the player, a prime example being the Mew Glitch in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.
