Diancie (ディアンシー) is an Event-Only Pokémon for the Generation VI games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. It is a Rock/Fairy-Type, and is known as the Jewel Pokémon.

Diancie uses the Clear Body Ability, which prevent opposing Pokémon from lowering its Statistics, but this doesn't stop Diancie from lowering its own Statistics with its own moves.

On June 7, 2014 it was revealed that Diancie will gain the ability to Mega Evolve into Mega Diancie in the upcoming Generation III game remakes, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Diancie is a part of the Rarelyused (RU) tier of competitive battling. With great defensive and offensive capabilities due to overall great stats and typing, Diancie is among the most influential Pokémon in RU. Its good support movepool with moves like Heal Bell and Stealth Rock allow for it to act as a valuable team supporter with cleric and entry hazard support abilities while checking many special attacking threts. Its typing gives it valuable resistances to Fire, Dark, and Flying attacks, all of which are very prevalent in the tier. Its solid STAB attacks in Moonblast and Diamond Storm allow for it to take out certain threatening Pokémon in the tier, such as Fletchinder and Sigilyph. Thanks to a great offensive movepool that includes moves like Earth Power, Psychic, and Explosion, Diancie can use a Trick Room set with relative effectiveness that can sweep weakened teams. Diancie can run an offensive Stealth Rock set that keeps momentum for bulky offense and can 2HKO nearly every entry hazard control Pokémon with the exception being Blastoise. A mono-attacker set with Calm Mind can prove to be very effective to wear down at opposing teams while progressively becoming harder to take out. However, Diancie has a low HP stat that undermines its defensive stats somewhat and its low Speed means that in order for it to be effective offensively, it must use Trick Room. Diancie also has to often go mixed due to a lack of a strong physical Fairy STAB or special Rock STAB, and it also has no form of reliable recovery.

Diancie is also a viable option in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. With great defenses and typing, Diancie can check many extremely threatening Pokémon in the tier, such as Mega Absol, Entei, and Hydreigon. Diancie can run a good offensive set with Trick Room thanks to its access to strong STABs in Diamond Storm and Moonblast. As a Stealth Rock setter, Diancie can put heavy pressure on many Defoggers with Diamond Storm. It can also run an effective physically defensive support set thanks to access to moves like Stealth Rock and Heal Bell. However, Diancie suffers from having low Speed that does not help outside of Trick Room and many common weaknesses, meaning that it can be easy pickings for Pokémon like Mega Sceptile, Mega Blastoise, and Nidoqueen.
