Mega Camerupt, the Mega Evolution of Camerupt activated by using Mega Stone, was revealed on September 10, 2014 after a leak of the November Edition of CoroCoro, alongside Mega Gallade and Mega Sharpedo. It retains its Fire and Ground-typings.
Mega Camerupt uses the Sheer Force ability which increases the power of all moves that have a secondary effect by 33%, but at the expense of said attacks losing their secondary effect.
Camerupt can Mega Evolve into Mega Camerupt if it is holding a Cameruptite.
Mega Camerupt is a part of the Rarelyused (RU) tier of competitive battling. With a great Special Attack stat that is further bolstered by Sheer Force, good overall defenses, powerful STAB attacks, and a great Fire/Ground typing, Mega Camerupt is a very formidable tank. Thanks to its typing, Mega Camerupt can check numerous threats in the tier, such as Escavalier, Jolteon, and Manectric. It can support its team very well thanks to its access to Stealth Rock and can cripple defensive switch-ins like Alomomola and Jellicent with Toxic. However, Mega Camerupt suffers from having two very common weaknesses in Water and Ground. It lacks reliable recovery and is extremely slow, which can lead to it getting worn out rather easily especially considering it's vulnerable to all forms of entry hazards.
