Mega Pinsir can be obtained by using the Mega Stone while Pinsir is holding a Pinsirite in battle.
Mega Pinsir has yet to appear in a Spin-Off game as of writing.
Trading Card Game
Mega Pinsir resides in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling. With a high 155 base Attack supported by Aerilate and Swords Dance, Mega Pinsir makes for a terrifying sweeper. Mega Pinsir also has access to priority Quick Attack, which when bolstered by Aerilate can allow for Mega Pinsir to handle faster and frailer offensive threats. It has immense wallbreaking ability with a Aerilate Return doing massive damage to Pokémon that do not resist it as well as Close Combat or Earthquake to break through the Steel and Rock types that resist its primary attacks. Mega Pinsir does have decent bulk that allows for a decent amount of set up opportunities. However, it does suffer from being very vulnerable to Stealth Rock, especially after Mega evolving. Mega Pinsir is also given trouble by a number of commonly used Pokémon, such as Talonflame, Thundurus, and Skarmory.
